Description
Brown Buffalo, spirit of strength and independence, your deep connection to Mother Earth tells us to honor the sacredness of all creatures, to protect those who are endangered, to respect all paths, though they may be different than ours, to praise all that nature and life has given us. And peace and abundance will flow into our world. Spirit Of The Brown Buffalo is from the 'Dream Catcher' collection of original wildlife art by Carol Cavalaris.

Very good painting, The dream catcher is used to catch bad dreams, the meaning behind this seems to presume that the buffalo is somehow bad, which is a contradiction in native thought, as the buffalo is the source of all that is good. A dream catcher, of which iʻve made many, works by only letting the smaller better dreams through while attracting the bad dreams to areas where they will be get trapped, i love the skill and ability of this painting but its meaning has been lost to me.
Carol Cavalaris replied:
Thank you for your comment and for your thoughts on the meaning of dream catchers. This dream catcher is based on Native American tradition of having a symbolic web over a sleeping person to protect them from bad dreams. Nightmares are caught within the web. And the good dreams, which are floating in the air, are also caught and become part of the web. The dream catcher traps the nightmares until they perish with the new light of day, and the good dreams flow down the dangling feathers to the sleeper below. The buffalo, as you said, is very positive, and is like a good dream, held within the dream catcher and all the healing power of this strong spirit animal also flows down to the person below.
