Iguana
You lay so still
observing the subtle energies
your spirit calm and peaceful
like a benevolent dragon
moving easily through
shadows and sunlight
between dangers and dreams
For deep within you
there is an ancient wisdom
the gift of illusion
and the power of self protection
when the time is right
how quickly you
change and adapt
showing me that sometimes
the only way to save myself
is to leave part of
myself behind
to let go of old ideas,
behaviors, and beliefs
to make choices that honor
every part of who I am now
knowing new parts will grow
as I move with the
spirit of the iguana
into a world of
new beginnings.
