Romantic Fantasy Story Art - Sea Of Sorrows

Romantic Fantasy Story Art - Sea Of Sorrows

A romantic fantasy artwork of two lovers turned into swans inspired the story.

Sea Of Sorrows art and prose by Carol Cavalaris

An evil witch,
who didn't believe in love,
cast a spell over two young lovers,
turning them into black swans,
condemning them to
forever drift apart
on the sea of sorrows.

Through the darkest, coldest nights
season after season
storm after storm
only their song of longing
as faint as a whisper on the wind
carried their feelings to one another like a caress.

What the witch didn't know
Is that the power of love
can overcome even the strongest curse,
for the lovers never stopped caring and singing
and when they finally found one another
they rose above the dark green waters
ln an embrace that could never be broken again.

Romantic Fantasy Story Art - Captured

A romantic fantasy artwork of an eagle man embracing a swan woman, inspired this story.

Captured art and prose by Carol Cavalaris

She fell from the sky
a wounded bird
his helpless prey
a breath away
from eternity.

But deep within
his beastly heart
he felt the beating
of life
of love
of rapture
and knew it was he
who had been captured.

Story Art - Woman In The Poppy Hat

A young woman wearing a hat decorated with big red poppies, inspired this story.

Woman In The Poppy Hat art and prose by Carol Cavalaris

She remembers a field of red poppies
on that hot summer day
where she and her beloved lay.

Oh how they laughed and played.
She remembers how he picked the blossoms
gathering a love bouquet
placing them in her hat
in such a gentle way.

She remembers how he crossed his heart
and promised he would never go away.
And every summer when the poppies come
she remembers yesterday.

Life Of An Artwork - Eagle Red White Blue

Life Of An Artwork - Eagle Red White Blue

I've always found it interesting that the art I create has a life of its own. Like a child, I conceive it, nurture it, fret over it, love it with all my heart, and then at some point must release it into the world. And let the world have its way with it. Some art is adored, other art is ignored. And everything in-between. The Universe decides and I can only watch and hope for the best.

Eagle Red White Blue has had several exciting adventures so far. The art first became a print, and now resides in many homes around the world. It also resides on duvet covers, and pillows, shower curtains, tote bags and cell phones, going places and doing things I can't even imagine.

The art has been Blogged, Tweeted, Pinned, Facebooked, Instagramed, YouTubed, Linked, and yes, even used and abused in ways I don't want to know about. :o)

The Mountain put the art on a T-shirt, and it has traveled who knows where on people's bodies. The traveling didn't stop there, for a very patriotic veteran who loves eagles put the image on her vehicle as a car wrap. So it is now traveling faster than an eagle can fly. Then it landed on the ground, when a chalk artist was inspired to duplicate the image. He created a giant sidewalk drawing for a festival, to be enjoyed for only a moment in time before rain washed the eagle away forever.

Yes, Eagle Red White Blue has had a very exciting life so far, and we are both looking forward to the next adventure.

Story Art - Spirit Birds On Dream Catcher

Story Art - Spirit Birds On Dream Catcher

This dream catcher within a gnarled piece of wood, surrounded by spirit birds, is artwork and prose I created in June of 2012, to honor the passing of my husband and soul mate, LJ. I have been traveling my path of grief and healing for several years now, flying low and high along the way.

Over the years, each of these spirit birds has appeared to me in some way, physically coming into my world, invading my dreams, making themselves visible in symbols, all undeniable. And when my heart is open to their message, they bring courage, strength, hope, awareness, and even joy.

Dream Catcher - Spirit Birds, art and prose by Carol Cavalaris.

Spirit Birds
You come to me
From places unknown
Showing me I am not alone
Carrying your message
From somewhere high above
On magnificent wings of healing, hope, and love.

Eagle Spirit - symbol of power, courage and rebirth. You are the divine connection between creation and earth, carrying me to new heights of renewal and self-worth.

Hawk Spirit - symbol of intuition and insight, teaching me to trust my instinct, to know what is right, to be grateful for my talents and gifts and grow in the light

Falcon Spirit - symbol of possibilities and vision, you are my light that shines in the darkness, helping me see and realize my own dreams.

Osprey Spirit - symbol of healing energies and harmony, teaching me how to take care of and nurture myself, to embrace new opportunities and others with an open heart.

Raven Spirit - symbol of protection and renewal, warning me when danger is near and soothing my fear, teaching me that death, destruction, and darkness are not the end, but the beginning of rebirth, re-building, and new life

Owl Spirit - symbol of prophecy and wisdom, teaching me to see and understand what may be hidden, showing me how to embrace the changes that are to come.

Rainbow Rose for my beloved, LJ.

September 26th, 2015

Rainbow Rose for my beloved, LJ.

The rose is a symbol of love, and so I have done this Rose series in some of the shades of love we experience in a lifetime. I added the butterflies because love is shared by two.

Colors include: Antique Rose, celebrating love remembered forever, Pastel Rose, celebrating first love, Purple Rose, celebrating the passion of love, and Rainbow Rose, celebrating the many colors of love, that can be as vibrant as a rainbow, and as momentary.

Rainbow Rose and Butterflies is also a tribute to the love of my life, LJ, who passed 9 years ago. Today would have been our 37th wedding anniversary. We were married on a big brass bed, literally. With the minister standing at the foot and LJ and I kneeling on the bed, saying our vows. And that was the beginning of a very colorful relationship.

Rainbow Rose and Butterflies art and prose by Carol Cavalaris

Rainbow Rose
your colorful petals
radiating a vibrant glow
how magnificently you grow
as if you have
captured a
momentary rainbow.

For LJ
Forever
In my heart.

Story Art - Beneath The Acacia Tree

Story Art - Beneath The Acacia Tree

This artwork and story is a tribute to two beautiful white lions, Kato, and lioness, Kenia. Brother and sister, these magnificent white lions grew up happily together until a sudden illness took them both. They were only 6, and Kato went first, and Kenia followed him a week later. I created this artwork to honor their beauty and spirits, and because I like to think of them, together forever, beneath the acacia tree.

Beneath The Acacia Tree, art and prose by Carol Cavalaris

Two white lions
Sleep peacefully
My precious ones
And dream of
Your glory days
Of growing together
In the summer sun
So young and free
Like wild flowers
Beneath the acacia tree.

Your spirit so grand
Fills the clouds and sky
You will always be
A part of the river
And the land.
Growing together
So young and free
Like wild flowers
Beneath the acacia tree

Cover Art for Rez Dog Novel

Cover Art for Rez Dog Novel

I recently finished this custom cover art for 'Rez Dog',the latest novel written by Tom Frye. Rocket, and pup, Ghost, are pit bull characters in a story with a great theme about not raising this breed to be fighting dogs.

Tom had seen some of my art on t-shirts, and he contacted me to create the cover art. I agreed to do the project, and he was writing an email to explain what he wanted, and to enclose an image he got off the web, of what his vision was for the cover. As he was looking at the image, which was wolves within a dreamcatcher, he suddenly realized the art that had inspired him was mine. This blew him away because he had contacted me without knowing I was the artist. What a wonderful moment we had enjoying the serendipity of our coming together.

Here is a blurb from Tom's book, 'Rez Dog'.

The thunder beings were active the night he was born on Pine Ridge. The Pit bull pup was named Wakinyan tonwapi, meaning the source of thunder and lighting in Lakota. But his DEA handler simply called him Rocket. In his ten year service as a DEA sniffer dog, Rocket alerted to millions of dollars worth of drugs belonging to Mexican cartels. Upon his retirement, Rocket is placed at a dog sanctuary run by dog trainer, Chade Long Soldier, located in Seward, Nebraska. When the dog is stolen by a cartel leader, the race is on to save him.

Story Art - Raven Dreams

Story Art - Raven Dreams

Seven ravens, on and around a dream catcher, pays tribute to the mysterious beauty, magic, and wisdom of the raven, in story and art.

Raven Dreams art and prose by Carol Cavalaris

In a dream
where the starlit sky is
violet and blue
and the moon is full
seven midnight ravens
came to visit
each with a message
so strong and so true

Raven One
with wings the colors of the sky
telling me to embrace
my surroundings
to stop asking why
to believe I am where I belong
in the right moment and time
to become all that I dream
and know I can fly.

Raven Two
reflecting the colors
of the moon
Illuminating the night
telling me there is
a divine balance
between darkness and light
that I need both to guide me
through the transitions of life

Raven Three
calling out
with words spoken
loud and clear
by myself and others
telling me to listen and
take heed
that it is important
to hear what I need.

Raven Four
silent and introspective
telling me to find comfort
in the quiet
for within the solitude
of my own thoughts
is the healing wisdom
and peace
that I seek.

Ravens Five and Six
standing strong together
two lovers united
against all fates
telling me no matter
what comes
they will travel through
time and space
forever mates.

Raven Seven
standing alone
learning to survive
even to thrive
sometimes with laughter
sometimes with cries
telling me to accept
what has been
that love never dies
to embrace what is now
and what is to be
and know love
is always within me.
