Unicorn Soulmates - Universe Of Lavender Blue

Unicorn Soulmates - Universe Of Lavender Blue

My husband, LJ, and I were soulmates. When we met he was a singer/songwriter and I was an artist and writer. We shared an amazing creative and passionate relationship for 30 years. Sadly, LJ died of a sudden heart attack. Every year, for the past nine years, on the anniversary of his passing, I pay tribute to him and our relationship with some new art. This is the most recent art and prose created in June of this year.

Unicorn Soulmates - Universe Of Lavender Blue, art and prose by Carol Cavalaris

There is a legend of
two lost lovers
who find each other on
one summer night
In June
when the iridescent moon
is so radiant and full
it turns into a precious pearl
illuminating their universe in lavender blue

Some say it is only a fantasy
the romantic dream of a fool
but only those who understand
the love of a soulmate
know the legend is true

And on this one magic night
the lovers turn into unicorns
becoming one
their hearts so radiant and full
as they run
across their universe of lavender blue

And then
when the luster of the moon
begins to fade
they must part
one going
the other staying
another year apart
but in their heart
their love beats
strong and true
in their universe of
lavender blue.

Story Art -In Your World

When my husband passed I lost my soulmate. We now live in different worlds and my desire to be with him once again inspired this artwork and prose.

In Your World art and prose by Carol Cavalaris

I will wear a wild disguise
a mask to hide my eyes
to be like you
to be with you
to fantasize
for one moment
one precious escape
traveling through time and space
in your arms
in your loving embrace
Let me feel mysteries unfold
in your world.

Story Art - Legend Of The Blue Wolf

This artwork of blue wolves in the moonlight inspired this story.

Legend Of The Blue Wolf art and prose by Carol Cavalaris

There is a legend told among those
who have gazed into the eyes
of the Blue Wolf.

Of how this creature of mystery walks silently
through the shimmering mist of moonlight
among the ancient spirits of the forest.
Gathering wisdom forged from the fires of experience
so that she can return again and teach us
all she has come to know.

She tells those who are wise enough to listen
that within each of us lives the spirit of the wolf.
A flame that burns for knowledge, for freedom.

A soul that leaves the comfort of the pack
to travel the world of the unknown.
Singing the haunting song of life's refrain.
Crying to be heard in the darkness.

Stumbling, walking, running through obstacles and fears.
Learning to trust our instincts.
And ultimately, to embrace the journey.

Story Art - Seasons Of The Lion

I've always found it fascinating how many different people we are in a lifetime and that thought inspired this artwork of a lion from birth to old age. And the artwork inspired the prose.

Seasons Of The Lion art and prose by Carol Cavalaris.

I am old now
Tired and scarred
From many battles
Lost and won
I am wise now
As I gaze upon
The tiny cub so curious in Spring
The young lion so proud in Summer
The mighty king so strong in Autumn
The old one so weary in Winter
And I sigh in wonder
As I reflect upon
The seasons of my life
And I smile
At all that I have been.

Story Art - Wild Red Wind

Painting of a beautiful woman with wild long red hair blowing in the wind inspired this prose.

Wild Red Wind, art and prose by Carol Cavalaris.

She blew into his cold dark world
Like a wild red wind
A fire on the wind
An unstoppable storm headed straight for his heart
Burning him up
Turning him to ash
Sucking away his oxygen
Until all he could do was
Kiss her
Too hard
Too fast
Too everything
And heaven help him
Fall into her firestorm.

Story Art - Legend Of The White Raven

Story Art - Legend Of The White Raven

I am an artist and a fiction writer, so I often create art that inspires a story, or a story that inspires art. This artwork, Legend Of The White Raven, inspired a story.

Legend Of The White Raven art and story by Carol Cavalaris

An ancient legend tells of a miserly Chief who stole the sun, the stars, and the moon for himself, and the world grew cold and darker than a raven's wings. Soon all life began to die. People were so frightened and confused they even blamed this evil on the black raven. The raven did not like that humans thought him responsible for this dark magic and death, for in his heart he was pure with good intentions, and his spirit was innovative, and often playful, and his very being was a creature of creation. His true purpose was to become one with humans and guide them on a spirit path of changes leading to healing the inner self.

Though the raven knew the journey would not be easy, he also knew he could not change circumstances without taking risks and so he set out to find the miserly Chief. He did not eat or sleep for more dark days and nights than he could count. He couldn't see and followed his intuition. Belief in his purpose kept his tired wings moving. And when he didn't think he could take one more breath, he finally came upon the miserly Chief.

The Chief had been drawing energy from the sun, stars, and moon, and was very strong in his body, but weak in his soul. The raven was weak in his body, but strong in his spirit. A great battle ensued, for the Chief did not want to give up his treasures, even though they did not belong to him. Alas, it was a fight to the death.

Broken and bleeding, and barely alive, the raven took back the sun, stars, and moon and with his last breath, returned them to the sky. And then he fell to earth, unable to fly and waiting for the end. But for him it was a new beginning, for the moon beamed down and bathed him in healing light, turning the raven's black feathers pure white, as white as the moon. And from that moment on, the raven would never be feared. Instead he would be a messenger of strength, survival, change, and eternal hope, for he had brought light, peace, and life back to the world.

Story Art - Wild Goddess Tigress

I am an artist and a fiction writer, so I often create art that inspires a story, or a story that inspires art. Here is Wild Goddess - Tigress, art that inspired a story.

Wild Goddess - Tigress, art and story by Carol Cavalaris

There is a strange story
is it true
impossible to know
about an exotic flower
rare and unknown
not another in the universe
like her
she grows alone

Somewhere deep
inside a jungle
beyond the imagination
in the sunlit shadows
this wild iris grows
discovered only
by the bravest souls.

If you gaze upon
her untamed beauty
you will see colors
you have never seen before
but beware
alas, I know you will not
heed this warning
you will want more
so much more.

If you dare
inhale her intoxicating scent
if you stare
into her tigress eyes
as I know you must
you will want to tame her
to keep her for your own
Sadly for you
She will be the last to hear your cries
for this wild iris goddess
only grows alone.
