Vision Of The Hawk is from the 'Spirit Of The Wild' series of original wildlife art by Carol Cavalaris. When a hawk appears, protector and visionary, it is a messenger of the spirit, telling us to be aware of our talents, of our blessings, to open our eyes, to see what is there to guide us.
I live in the middle of a forest in the high country of Colorado. It is the wild beauty of my surroundings that inspires my mixed medium paintings of wildlife and nature. I grew up in Southern California and have been creating since childhood, always drawing, painting or making something. I have enjoyed many creative adventures, including sculpting, stained glass art, being a display artist, an interior designer, a graphic artist, a copywriter, a songwriter, a novelist, and a creative director. I owned an ad agency with my husband for years, doing everything from producing books to print ads to tv commercials. Painting wildlife and nature, color and detail, are my passions. Breathtaking! The grace, burning spirit and light, and the mystical beauty are all masterfully rendered and compelling. Our summer hawks -- red-tails, Swainson's, osprey, prairie falcons, kestrels, harriers and ferrugenous -- are just now arriving to replace the winter's rough-legged hawks. The goshawks, sharp-shinned, golden and bald eagles stay year-round. They are all such free and gorgeous creatures, and you have certainly caught their spark in this beautiful painting!
Carol Cavalaris replied:
Thank you for the wonderful comment, Dawn. Like you, we have various species of birds of prey up here in the mountains and they are such incredibly majestic creatures that always inspire me.
